Nagarkurnool

Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha Constituency is one of the 17 parliamentary constituencies in Telangana and is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC). Located in the southern part of the state, the constituency covers large parts of Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts. The region is characterised by a predominantly rural landscape, agricultural economy and significant forested areas, including portions of the Nallamala Forest.

The constituency is known for its agricultural activity, livestock rearing, tribal habitations and irrigation projects linked to the Krishna River basin. Major crops cultivated in the region include paddy, cotton, maize, groundnut, red gram and other pulses. The constituency also includes important pilgrimage and eco-tourism destinations such as Srisailam and the Amrabad Tiger Reserve. Agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry-related livelihoods, trade and government services form the backbone of the local economy.

Nagarkurnool has historically been an important parliamentary constituency in southern Telangana, particularly due to its large rural electorate and Scheduled Caste representation.
