Bhongir

Bhongir Lok Sabha Constituency is one of the 17 parliamentary constituencies in Telangana and is located in the eastern part of the Hyderabad Metropolitan region. The constituency covers most of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and parts of Nalgonda district, making it one of the most strategically located parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Centred around the historic town of Bhongir (Bhuvanagiri), the constituency is known for its rich cultural heritage, strong agricultural economy and growing urbanisation. The iconic Bhongir Fort, built atop a massive monolithic rock, is one of Telangana's most recognisable landmarks. The constituency benefits from its proximity to Hyderabad and its location along the Hyderabad–Warangal growth corridor. Agriculture remains the backbone of the local economy, with paddy, cotton, maize, red gram and vegetables cultivated extensively across the region. Trade, transportation, education, healthcare and small-scale industries also contribute significantly to economic activity.

Bhongir has been one of Telangana's politically significant parliamentary constituencies and has witnessed closely contested elections among the Indian National Congress (INC), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Left parties.

The constituency has historically reflected the political currents of eastern Telangana, including agrarian movements, the Telangana statehood movement and rural development issues.
