    Voter ID (EPIC) cards within 15 days

    The Election Commission of India (ECI) has recently introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that ensures the delivery of Voter ID (EPIC) cards within 15 days of any new enrollment, electoral roll update, or data correction.

    Key Electoral Roll Updates

    Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase III: The crucial enumeration and voter verification phase is actively underway across 16 States and 3 UTs. This includes specific targeted updates in states like Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur.

    Booth Level Agent (BLA) Meetings: Political parties are engaging in continuous BLA-BLO (Booth Level Officer) verification meetings at municipal levels to verify draft rolls.

    Redesigned Voter Information Slip (VIS): The ECI has deployed a newly formatted, clearer VIS. Registered voters can verify their status via the official ECI Voter Service Portal.

    Supreme Court Verdict on SIR: The Supreme Court of India recently upheld the ECI's constitutional authority under Article 324 to conduct these Special Intensive Revisions to cleanse electoral rolls, affirming its legality as a valid verification mechanism.
