Kallakurichi Lok Sabha Constituency is one of the 39 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu and is located in the north-central part of the state. Covering the entire Kallakurichi district and adjoining areas, the constituency is predominantly rural and is recognised as one of Tamil Nadu's most important agricultural regions. Kallakurichi town serves as the district headquarters and functions as the principal commercial, educational and administrative centre.

The constituency is characterised by fertile plains, rolling hills along the Eastern Ghats, extensive irrigation tanks and thriving agricultural villages. Agriculture forms the backbone of the local economy, with sugarcane, paddy, tapioca, maize and millets cultivated on a large scale. Kallakurichi is one of Tamil Nadu's leading producers of sugarcane and tapioca, supporting several sugar mills and starch-processing industries. Dairy farming, poultry, food processing, textiles, trade and small-scale manufacturing also contribute significantly to economic activity. The constituency's strategic location along National Highway 79 has strengthened its role as a transport and commercial hub connecting Chennai, Salem and Tiruchirappalli.

The Kallakurichi Lok Sabha Constituency comprises the following six Assembly constituencies:

Kallakurichi has traditionally been an agriculturally influential parliamentary constituency in northern Tamil Nadu. Following delimitation, the constituency has witnessed electoral contests involving the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Agriculture, irrigation, sugar industry, tribal welfare, rural employment and infrastructure development have consistently shaped electoral politics. The constituency represents a diverse electorate comprising farming communities, Scheduled Castes and tribal populations living in the hill regions around Yercaud.

Agricultural sustainability remains the foremost development priority. Farmers seek assured irrigation, improved groundwater recharge, modern farming practices and better procurement prices for sugarcane, paddy and tapioca. Strengthening food-processing industries and expanding cold-storage infrastructure are important demands.
