There are currently no MLCs (Members of Legislative Council) in Tamil Nadu because the state has a unicameral legislature (only a Legislative Assembly) and no active Upper House.
History of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council
Abolition: The Tamil Nadu Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) was officially abolished on November 1, 1986, by the then Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran (AIADMK).
Previous Attempt to Revive: In 2010, the DMK government passed a bill in the Parliament to revive the Council, but it was subsequently dropped after the AIADMK returned to power in 2011.
